Our Story
I’m Felix, the creator and maker behind our high-quality leather belts and accessories - made both for man and man’s best friend. A proud father of three daughters, I’ve been married to an Arrowtown local for over a decade love living in the Wakatipu. I love the outdoors and now I split my time between parenting, guiding, hunting and making premium leatherware.
Why Rogues & Royals?
The motif of the Greyhounds in the logo represents Rogues & Royals brand perfectly; Around the 15th century in Britain the king owned exclusive rights to deer hunting and he used greyhounds to hunt them, banning commoners from owning them. However gypsies were renowned for crossing the greyhound with another breed to create a ‘lurcher’, a dog capable of filling the pot without attracting unwanted attention from the King’s men. Greyhounds therefore are deeply embedded in the Royals and Rogues of this world.
About Our Belt Names
Each piece we make is named after authors and characters who embody the essence of Rogues & Royals. Hemingway, who was comfortable sipping cocktails in European capitals or shark fishing with a Tommy gun, Beryl Markham the African bush pilot who broke flying records as well as race horses and of course Sherlock Holmes whom I need not explain. These names are more than just labels; they’re archetypes of my inspiration, dive into their stories, and you’ll understand the ethos behind our brand.
